best friends
These little gals were born just days apart and for the last several years have lived states apart - but they sure do know how to have a good time! They are avid Fairy book readers, Dorito chip lovers, and even know how to rock some intriguing pajama ensembles.

on the move
Just a quick note here to let all of my devoted readers (ahem, the 14+ of you) know that we have a forwarding address!!!! I'm very relieved about this and find that I can't wait to call it home (I'm pretty certain this is because I will be sleeping 3 miles from the beach, hard to believe really). So if you are interested in knowing the exact address, let me know.
Now I suppose I should start stockpiling the sunscreen...

hard day at pops
When you are at your Pops' house there are just too many toys to play with, too many beds to jump on, and too many songs to sing. By the end of the day its just plain rough to have to watch over the semi-truck, dump truck, and taxi cab all through the night. I guess we'll excuse the fact that he's sleeping on the job.

pack rat
It is the beginning of the end. We are starting to pack. Its kind of exciting; but if I let it, it will soon become overwhelming! Any tips on keeping sanity while moving one's household to a new location?!

a day fit for a queen
1. Slept in until 8:20
2. Wore necklace from Grace to church that says "mom" (it is still on and has not turned my neck green - yet)
3. Found beautiful roses on the kitchen table that "are a favorite for mama"
4. Received another gorgeous necklace, this one from James, made of string and colored pasta
5. Had to inform Grace we could not cook my necklace for lunch
6. Opened a most fantastic present from Nate and the kids (hint - I'm creating my blog post from it right now and it would fit nicely on my lap!)
7. Nate and the kids are making my favorite Mother's Day dinner - fresh fruit crepes
8. Man, I'm living the life!

road trip
Yesterday began very unlike most Fridays. We woke up early to London-like fog. We rustled up the kids and put them in the car while they were still in pajamas. And then we drove 3 1/2 hours north (hoping the whole time the rain would magically stop). Our destination - Nauvoo, Illinois.
Nauvoo sits right along side the Mississippi river and between the months of May and September is generally hot, humid, and full of mosquitoes and other yucky bugs. Thankfully the rain did stop, the sun came out, and the bugs and humidity stayed far away. That is some magic.
Another perk to our trip - my parents met us there for the day. Jimmy could not wait to meet his Pops (whom he has decided is his "favorite about big boys"). Grace was excited to learn about the Pioneers. Most of my pictures ended up being of Jimmy because he was way too busy to learn anything about the Pioneers.
Oh and for all of you future-Nauvoo travelers who fear the lack of tasty dining there - fear no longer. We had a lovely lunch at the Zion Mercantile (cutesy cafe and gift shop right across from the temple). Also, we drove into the thriving (well, if you squinted and used your powers of Pretend you could say it was thriving) metropolis of Keokuk, Iowa, for dinner. We ate at the appropriately named Hawkeye for dinner. I have to say, it was good and rather tasty family fare.
After our goodbyes to Salsie and Pops, we began our journey home. The rain began just South of Keokuk. It was as if our magic ran out, but we were sure glad while it lasted.

new status
If all goes right, the end of the day we will no longer be homeowners. We close at 12:30 today. I guess that means we're really moving away.
