when daddy's away...

Poor Nate is freezing in Salt Lake this weekend. Some people are 'freezing' here in San Diego, too. Though I must point out these people are not us. Its been in the low to mid-sixties here and frankly I think its perfect. Lots of folks who live here though are putting on their parkas (for real). Many have turned on their heat. Our home has been a comfortable 65 and I love it.

To party on this Friday night in the absence of The Great Defender of Fun, the kids and I ordered pizza, have watched many an episode of Little Einsteins (well, I read a book instead), and washed it all down with a shared slice of chocolate cake (or brown cake, whatever you want to call it).

Tomorrow will involve wearing pajamas most of the morning, a Christmas movie, pizza leftovers, four fabulous hours either spent with a babysitter (if you are James or Grace) or Christmas shopping (if you are me), dinner with the other Pages in town, and hopefully some on time bedtimes for one and all.

What are you doing this weekend?

That sounds wonderful! We're putting up the plastic on our windows this weekend because, sadly, St. Louis is not 65 degrees. ps - did I ever tell you that I totally had pie for breakfast the next morning? well, I did and it was awesome!

My school had an NHS babysitter night, so we dropped Izzy off for an evening of coloring, painting, necklace making etc. with the honor students. Then, we went Santa shopping with Erin. Santa is "officially" done. Today is soccer and cleaning the house. Tonight, we are going to Boilingbrook with Bridget's family for a light and music show to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra music. Tomorrow.....homework for me :-(

I feel I must confess - I did turn the heat on this morning. 62ish is much, much too chilly when one has to actually get out of bed.

Your weekend sounded perfect (although you'll win me over anytime you throw chocolate cake in the mix).

Well, from the Lowcountry..we had sun and more food than you could ever handle..seems when cooking for Thanksgiving they cook enuf to send this widow home with a week of feasting foods. But for Fast Sunday I did bake some real sweet potatoes(not yellow skin yams)at slow (350 for first half hour, remainder time 250 degrees) to retain all the delicious, sweet and moist inside as Mama used to bake. Then you load up with real butter or homemade mixed cinnamon-butter.Yum-from-grits-by-the-sea-GG/MOM/geny
